Adrian Belew at Sweetwater - The Interview

Part I of a very recent interview with Adrian Belew at Sweetwater, where he talks about how it all began, Frank Zappa, and King Crimson...

Part II, which totally gave me the chills, where he talks extensively about Julie and Eric Slick and his/their plans for the future...

Later,

  1. This is great Robin, thanks so much for posting, what would we do without you !
BTW, I am so enjoying " Daddy " so funny ! I thought I had the mystery man figured out, until you threw a curve ball on page 172, very cool.
    Peace

  3. I cannot WAIT for e!! Wondering if that will be the entire disc - just that one piece?? Interesting...

Any idea what the anticipated release date is?

    Thanks for posting these interviews!

  4. HA! Love the story at 3:34 everytime I hear it! :P And I've got the merch to prove it! *smile*

LMAO @ Adrian's brain fart. He thinks they were 19 year-old twins now or what? hahaha

The REALLY EXCITING news is that Adrian wants to tour, tour, tour. YES YES YES! I'm with him. It's the smaller venues with HIS band that I WANT to see.

  5. Thanks, Yo! (I never knew this, but I always wanted to say that)

Joseph, that was so gracious and cool of you...thank you so, so much.

Jeff, that's the CD in its entirety so far but I imagine it may exceed 50 minutes once Ade plays with it...who knows. I hope the release date is this summer but I am only speculating at this point.

Rena, I can't stand that they aren't touring 24/7. I could see their shows and read their reviews every day for the rest of my life and die happy. But between the economy and the fact that they really toured a lot last year, they are concentrating on getting e released and doing just some limited runs so far...but who knows what the fall will bring. But again, I'm kind of out of the loop and watch Pollstar along with everyone else. It still hasn't hit me that Julie and Eric have their own places now and I don't hear all the news all the time. Ha ha, thank God for Google.

  6. Hi Robin, I love the way Ade stops himself while mentionning their abilities and corrects the thought. He's right, they are some of the best musicians I've seen in my life. Even if they just moved out!!!

  7. Ha, thanks! I hope they are playing Quebec again this summer but I haven't heard anything and I wonder if they'd have the same band three years straight, anyway. That makes me sad. I was really looking forward to a return visit.
